Cinema Conservatory
Operating much like an independent production company, the video/film conservatory offers an active approach to cinematic technique and theory. Built around workshops taught by industry professional and student–driven productions, Conservatory students will compile a portfolio of work enabling them to apply to film school and professional positions upon gradation. Students focus on narrative video production developing original screenplays and eventually pitching, coordinating, casting, and producing short narratives of their own.
All projects are intended to be
prepared for submission to student film festivals and the final evaluation of
the projects will hinge upon successful festival submission. Drawing from
collaboration with other Envision disciplines as well as the professional production
community, Level 1 Cinema Conservatory students often find themselves working
with a variety of artists in seemingly infinite capacities towards a working
knowledge of all major specializations. As students move to Level 2 further
opportunity to specialize in a role of interest (e.g. Cinematographer, Director,
Production Designer…) is offered. Level 3 students are encouraged
to pursue longer-format narrative projects and will complete and present their
portfolio prior to graduation.
The Cinema Conservatory also organizes
the annual CCA Film Festival which features work from the Video/Film Conservatory
as well as Envision day classes.
